Brooke Hogan went for a swim in Miami with her gay roommate and Brooke Knows Best co-star Glenn Packard. Fortunately, Glenn's used to being attacked from behind, but I bet every once in a while he has to make sure he's not accidentally giving a manatee a piggyback ride: "Brooke, is that you? It feels like your chin on my shoulder --" ARF ARF! "Fuck, another sea lion. Brooke! Where are you? Oh, crap, she's beached. I better get up there before they try to harvest her blubber again. She hates that."

Meet Shruti Agrawal, the Hottest Himesh Girl

Shruti AgrawalBe it Aap Ka Surroor - The Moviee or Karzzzz debutants just get lucky when cast opposite Himesh Reshammiya. Aap Ka Surroor had Hansika Motwani and Karzzzz has Shweta Kumar. And now his upcoming film, Hhey Gujju has new-bee, Shruti Agrawal as a lead opposite him.

Catch the sizzling Shruti Agrawal, the supermodel who is all set to mark her foray in films as she talks about her debut film.

Launch
My film is titled Hhey Gujju and I am playing the lead opposite Himesh Reshammiya. It is a romantic comedy and is being directed by Satish Kaushik and produced by Studio 18. My role is that of an NRI girl who comes to India and falls in love with Himesh.

Casting coup
It was sheer luck that I bagged the film. The producers were looking out for someone to play the lead and after seeing my pictures, they called up my agent.
Shruti AgrawalI was informed that I had to meet them urgently. It was already seven in the evening but I still went for the meeting.

The producers just spoke to me for 15 minutes and said that they would revert in a week's time but before I reached home, I got a call from my agent who said I was selected.

Stepping-stone
I have done an acting course from Anupam Kher's An Actor Prepares Academy. It was a three-month course and trust me it helped me in leaps and bounds. Before the course, I have not done anything in acting so I had to start from scratch.

But yes being a model from the past two and a half years did help. I am a professional model and have done shows with a lot of leading designers and have been featured in the Kingfisher swimsuit calendar twice.
First shot
My first shot was a dance sequence and I was so nervous. That was the first time that I actually walked into a film set. But my director was pretty sweet and patient enough to understand my situation. The shot went on smoothly without any problems.

Stumbling block
Well I have been lucky enough to have met the right people in life. I had heard a lot about the industry but because I am from the modelling world I know how the industry functions. Anyways all that matters is how you want to project yourself. As long as you know the kind of people to work with, the industry is a great place.
Shruti AgrawalLessons learnt
If you are serious about your work and have the required potential, you will never go unnoticed. You have to believe in yourself.

Also I would like to say that it is very important to keep doing things even after you are done with the acting course. When you do the acting course, you have to concentrate and pay attention to all the classes conducted in the acting school.

Matinee idol
I am too young to choose who I get to work with. There are so many directors who are brilliant at their work; Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Yash Raj, and Karan Johar are directors everyone dreams of working with. I am a die-hard fan of Shah Rukh Khan and would love to work with him someday.

Future plans
Right now, I just want to concentrate on my debut movie. This is my first film and I am taking it really slow. I am only concentrating on proving myself as an actress so that I get good roles in the future.

Sex-ercise: How yoga can enhance your sex life

Bedroom bliss is best pursued on a yoga mat. Besides enlightenment and improved well-being, the meditational exercise can transform a person's sex life at its very core.

According to Fox News, yoga enables men and women alike to tap into their sexual energy like never before.

Dr Yvonne Kristin Fulbright, a sex educator, relationship expert, columnist and founder of Sexuality Source Inc, when a person lets himself or herself stray from any exercise routine, it can be difficult to get back into it. However, the beauty with yoga is that, in taking care of a person, yoga takes care of the individual.

When it comes to sex life, yoga can result in:

Yoga's breathing exercises help a person breathe more fully, decreasing anxiety level and blood pressure.

Recent research has suggested that meditation, prayer and yoga can improve health. These relaxation activities change patterns of gene activity that affect the body's response to stress.

When a person evokes a relaxation response, the mind actively turns genes that are 'switched' on or off by stress the other way. All of this makes a person more primed for intimacy.

More powerful orgasms
Yoga's influence on orgasms is two-fold. First, in strengthening the sexual core, person has greater control over pelvic floor muscles and sex organs. Harnessing this during sex helps the individual to climax more magnificently.

Second, the practice enables to release muscle tension, which, lets one experience full-body orgasms.

Improved energy
In being physically active, learning how to relax and alleviating stress through breathing, and by simply having fun, a person will feel more energized. Yoga is invigorating.

Body knowledge and acceptance
Yoga is about embracing a person's form. A person becomes more aware of his or her body's strengths and limits. At the same time, he or she develops a flexibility, coordination, balance and physical strength, all of which will help one in the bedroom.

Greater fitness
By tapping unused muscles, a person will feel fitter. In working out, body will become more toned. Better muscle tone will increase sexual responsiveness.

New sexual positions
Since a person is exercising his muscles, he will be able to engage in a greater variety of sexual positions for greater pleasure.

Masand's Verdict: The Strangers is for hard-core horror fans

Cast: Liv Tyler, Scott Speedman

Director: Bryan Bertino

As far as horror movies go, The Strangers is a pretty decent one.

Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman play a young unmarried couple who decide to spend the night at his parents' middle-of-nowhere house in the woods. But what was planned to be a romantic evening turns out to be quite the tragic one when masked strangers come knocking in the dark of the night.

The film, that's been described as "inspired by real events", is an old fashioned spooky movie which doesn't depend on violent stabbings and blood-splattered killings to give you the scares (although there's a little of both in this film); instead it sets the mood for terror through suspenseful silence which is broken only by the sounds of the scratchy record that keeps going on mysteriously, the threatening knocks and bangs on the door, and of course by Tyler's petrified piercing screams.

For the most part, the film unfolds in real time, so it often feels excruciatingly slow, but that seems to be exactly what the filmmakers were going for, because when the action finally starts you're plunged right into it.

What's interesting about this film is that the audience gets to see things that the characters don't - so long before Tyler knows there's another person in the room, we've seen the stranger already, and we know something bad is going to happen. It's moments like these that suck you into the film's drama completely.

Despite the lame-ass ending, it's a film I recommend you do watch - and watch it in the cinema, because it's the experience of watching it as a collective audience that makes it such fun. I'll go with three out of five for The Strangers; this one's really for hard-core horror-movie fans and for those who have enough patience to let a film reveal itself slowly, rather than show you all its cards at once. Go with a big group of friends, that's the best way to enjoy it.

Masand's Verdict: Hari Puttar

Cast: Zain Khan, Swini Khara, Sarika, Jackie Shroff, Lilette Dubey, Saurabh Shukla, Vijay Raaz

Director: Lucky Kohli and Rajesh Bajaj

The child actors have an excuse - they don't know any better, they can't tell a good script from a bad one. But what excuse do Sarika, Jackie Shroff, Lilette Dubey, Saurabh Shukla and Vijay Raaz have? What are they doing in this puerile piece of nonsense called Hari Puttar - which you should have guessed from its television trailers, is a shameless and blatant rip-off of Home Alone!

Ashamed as I am to admit it, I couldn't sit through this entire film, I walked out during intermission -- and believe me, even the first half was too much to take.

I'll get to the kids in a bit, but let's talk about the older actors first: Why does Jackie Shroff look like he's run away from rehab; what's with the indecipherable dialogue delivery and the tortured acting? What's with Lilette Dubey making a joke about her ten-year-old nephew walking in on her changing her clothes? Why does Saurabh Shukla have that Medusa-like wig; and can't he get his flatulence problem examined by a doctor, especially if he needs to crouch down every few seconds and let out a burst of gas?

Hari Puttar stars Zain Khan in the title role of a precocious adolescent who's left behind at home by accident when his family takes off on holiday. Also left behind, and giving him company this weekend is his little cousin Tuk Tuk (played by Swini Khara, who you might remember as the annoying tyke who played Amitabh Bachchan's over-smart little friend in Cheeni Kum). It's the same old drill. The kids protect themselves and their home from being broken into by a pair of thugs in search of some computer chip.

I can't think of very much to say about this film, except that it doesn't work on any level - as a children's film, or as a comedy, because none of the characters are endearing, and because its plot is too juvenile even for five-year-olds who'd rather watch Tom & Jerry reruns which are more enjoyable.

I can't believe it took two directors to make this film. If you ask me, Lucky Kohli and Rajesh Bajaj who are credited with directing Hari Puttar need to go to film school right away.

And the kids in this film should just go to school.

I can't rate this film. That's beyond me. I called a friend who watched the entire film to ask if the second half got any better. I was told it didn't. If you still want to find out for yourself, the risk is all yours to take.

Lata Mangeshkar celebrates her 79th birthday

India's most revered singer melody queen Lata Mangeshkar who has mesmerised music lovers with her celestial voice for over six decades celebrated her 79th birthday with family members in her Pune home.
Didi as she is fondly called by family, fans and admirers is rarely in Mumbai on her birthday. She stays put in her Kolhapur or Pune residence.

She was last heard in Vikram Bhatt's 1920 where she shared playback credits with Pandit Jasraj and Asha Bhosale.

On her 75th birthday, Lata was in Mumbai as her nephew Adinath had organised a concert where other singers sang her classic songs. The function was attended by Sharad Pawar, L K Advani among others.

Lata's brother Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar organised a musical concert 'Didi ani mi' (Didi and I) at the Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir in Pune in her honour.
The legendary singer was introduced to intricacies of classical music by her father master Dinanath Mangeshkar.

After his demise, the entire responsibility of looking after the family fell on her young shoulders and at the age of 13 she was compelled to don the greasepaint and act.

She did a few Marathi films like 'Pahili Mangalagaur', 'Majhe Bal', 'Gaja Bhau' and even few Hindi movies like 'Badi Maa', 'Jeevan Yatra' and 'Samudra Mandir'.

Though her playback career started in 1942, she was leaving her first tentative footprints on a music scene dominated by the legendary Shamshad Begum and Noorjehan. It was in 1948 that her career graph took giant leaps with films like Mahal, Baiju bawra, Nagin, Madhumati among others.
