Hrithik-Barbara starrer Kites to release in Dec

The much-talked about Hrithik Roshan starrer Kites is scheduled for December release and producer Rakesh Roshan and director Anurag Basu have also agreed on how different the English and Hindi versions of the film would be.

The supposed steamy scenes between Hrithik and his co-star Barbara Mori would be the same in both versions.

"We can't cheat Hindi audiences. The so-called steamy scenes will be the same in both versions. The visuals will remain unchanged in both. There won't be anything radically different in the two versions because Hrithik and Barbara speak English-Hindi and Spanish, respectively in both English and Hindi," Basu said.

Also there would be voice-overs in Hindi and English, both done by Hrithik whose love story the film chronicles in a style that would recall David Lean's Brief Encounter and K Balachander's Ek Duuje Ke Liye.

About being designated the director of the decade at International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards in Macau, Rakesh Roshan said: "I'm flattered. There were other truly deserving directors in the reckoning. I must've done something right."

Hrithik - Superhero, super singer?

Oh, and the girl whose latest hit was Jee Karda from Singh is Kinng , has become a fan of his singing! Suzie was originally called to vocally train Hrithik for the Spanish song he is singing with her in Anurag Basu’s Kites , which the director wanted the actor to sing himself.

In Suzie’s words, “It was a challenge for Hrithik to have to sing an English song. And the great thing is that normally someone else would have started with a pop song but Hrithik started with Jazz standards like Michael BublĂ©.” And what helped Hrithik was the accent training that he has been going through for the movie and the fact that his English is not Indianised but Anglacised. “We did quite a few sessions and Hrithik has a range of three octaves which not many can boast of. He has a great voice and if he works hard, he can put a lot of singers to shame,” coos Suzie. Oh, by the way, we hear Hrithik is also as impressed with Suzie’s singing as she is of his. He asked her “How do you sing so beautifully and effortlessly? Does that high note you sing even exist on the keyboard?” Mutual admiration society, eh?
