Success sits easy on Deepika Padukone. Relaxing in her make up van outside the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week venue, the lissome model-turned-actor talks animatedly about her smashing debut and her relationship with actor Ranbir Kapoor. “I am only two films old in Bollywood, so I find it a little premature when people call me successful. When I approach a shot, I give it my best. It’s great if the film clicks. If it doesn’t, I don’t brood over it,” she grins, in between getting ready for a turn on the ramp for designers Shantanu and Nikhil’s Fiama di Wills show.

Padukone is still basking in the success of her second release, Sidharth Anand’s Bachna Ae Haseeno. The conversation veers towards Kapoor as her co-star and Padukone acknowledges, “I am more relaxed when I am acting with him and it shows on screen,” she smiles. In fact, ever since their romance became public, there have been many offers for them as a lead pair. But the actor is quick to point out in the same breath that they are not looking to cash in on their romance. “We don’t approach offers thinking it will give us more time with each other. We have been signing projects only if they are appropriate for our careers. With that kind of money involved, nobody takes a risk unless they are confident it will pay off,” she says.

Soon, we’ll see the 22-year-old in Nikhil Advani’s Chandni Chowk to China opposite Akshay Kumar, where she again has a double role after Om Shanti Om. “I am very fond of the movie because it’s the first time I have attempted action in a film. I had been training in jujitsu most of last year that involves hanging from cables and wires,” says Padukone, with some bruises from her action sequences clearly visible.

“There’s this particular fight sequence that I have with Akshay in the movie which I was quite nervous about. He taught me action should be like a dance, smooth and graceful,” she recalls. Even as she waits for the release of the film during Diwali, the actor is busy shooting for director

Imtiaz Ali’s yet to be titled film, opposite Saif Ali Khan. “It’s a simple romance, quite contemporary, something which Imtiaz is so good at creating,” she says.

Shah Rukh Khan takes the trophy of being the sexiest Khan with Salman Khan coming a close second. At number three is Aamir Khan as audiences feel he still needs to work on that sex appeal.

The surprise entry in this list is newcomer Imran Khan who is giving Saif good competition.

While Shah Rukh may have taken the lead being the hottest, the winner of the hottest body is still Salman Khan with cool dude Hrithik Roshan coming a close second and John Abraham lagging behind at a distant third. However, John's look in Dostana might just change those numbers.

In the ladies department, it's Katrina Kaif all the way.

Voted as the sexiest pin up girl with Bipasha Basu and Mallika Sherawat taking the second and third position, Katrina also takes the lead as the lady with the hottest figure in Bollywood followed by Bipasha again at second place and size zero Kareena Kapoor at number three.

And if you thought Aishwarya was the biggest contender for being a Bond girl, in the Filmfare poll, Mallika Sherawat has left Ash behind in being the popular choice for 007 with Bipasha Basu and Kareena Kapoor giving her close competition.

And finally Ranbir Kapoor leads the pack in the face of 2008, followed by beau Deepika Padukone at number two and newcomer Imran Khan at third place.

After Bachna Ae Haseeno, three big directors are trying to cast real-life couple Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone together, but the pair is reluctant.

"We decided to be open about our relationship and lived to regret it because the more open we were, the more our honesty was misconstrued. Our right to privacy was completely disregarded. So we've decided to be less public about our relationship. And we don't need to do films together to prove anything," Deepika said.

Ranbir debuted with Saawariya and Deepika forayed into films with Om Shanti Om last year. Bachna Ae Haseeno was the second film for both.

The directors who have offered them films together include Anees Bazmi, who is taking a break from Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif after Welcome and Singh Is Kinng, David Dhawan and Rajkumar Santoshi.

Santoshi is already doing a film with Ranbir. It is titled Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani and Katrina is playing the female lead in it.

But Ranbir and Deepika are not showing any interest in doing films together after seeing what happened to Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapur in all their films until their break-up.

The two were seen together in films like Fida and 36 China Town before their break-up, but both the films bombed.

However their Jab We Met, which came after the two separated, was a huge success.

Recently Kareena featured with her current boyfriend Saif Ali Khan in Tashan and that bombed too.

"They've definitely been offered films by Bazmi, Dhawan and Santoshi and are considering taking up at least one of these. But Ranbir-Deepika are in no hurry to sign films together. Not after seeing what happened to Kareena and Shahid in all their films until their break-up and recently to Kareena and Saif Ali Khan in 'Tashan'," said a source.

"Ranbir-Deepika know the public gets satiated reading about real-life couples and seeing them constantly at events on television. The novelty factor is over. Deepika would rather be seen with Saif in Imtiaz Ali's film and Ranbir with Katrina and Konkona SenSharma in his forthcoming films rather than come together on screen repeatedly to entertain each other and bore the audience," added the source.

At the moment all the three major offers for Ranbir-Deepika are on hold.

"They might finally take up one of the offers. As for the much talked-about film by Ranbir's childhood friend Vicky Singh, that has three leading ladies in it and Deepika might or might not be one of them. And that project won't be shot until 2010. In fact, Ranbir hasn't even signed it as yet," a source said.
