
Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh will be the chief guest at the inaugural function to be held at the Y B Chavan Centre in south Mumbai.
The week-long festival will showcase 80 films, belonging from 20 Asian countries, which will be screened at Y B Chavan centre, Plaza Cinema, Dadar in central Mumbai and Fun Republic in suburban Andheri.
Actor and film maker Aamir Khan will be felicitated for his contribution to cinema, especially for his directorial debut 'Taare Zameen Par' which has been selected to represent India at the Oscars in the Foreign Film category.
Madhur Bhandarkar, who won the National Award for Best Director thrice, including his latest film 'Traffic Signal', will also be felicitated during the event.
The 'Asian Film Culture Award' will be given to veteran Korean director Park Wang-su for his outstanding contribution to cinema.
National Film Archives' Former Director P K Nair will be honoured with the Satyajit Ray Memorial Award on the occasion. The festival has been organised by the Asian Film Foundation headed by ex-Sheriff of Mumbai Kiran Shantaram.
