Ketan Mehta's film Rang Rasiya is all set to do the rounds of international film festivals and in a time when artistic freedom is under the scanner the makers believe the film will raise some important statements.

India's most controversial painter Raja Ravi Verma has been portrayed on celluloid in Ketan Mehta's Rang Rasiya. This movie will be screened in the London, New York and Tribeca Film Festival. It will also have its world premieres in London.

The story of the painter and his romance with his muse also deals with the subject of artistic freedom and this controversial issue is no deterrent to the spirit of its makers.

"We love getting into trouble. Ketan's other film have also been controversial,” says Producer Deepa Sahi.

Even with its highly controversial subject and the bold scenes in the film the censorboard has passed the film with minor cuts.

"The censorboard felt such a subject has been dealt aesthetically so they left it untouched,” says Director Ketan Mehta.

The film will be released with 800 prints in four languages in India alone apart from being dubbed in various other languages world wide but what has been a talking point is the delay in the film's release.

"We have two dates for now, that is all I can say,” says Producer Anand Mahendroo.
