There's a scene in Hello in which the six protagonists of the film are trapped in a car that's dangling precariously off the edge of a construction site. Death is imminent.

Until they are saved by a phone-call from God.

This one time — just this one time — you wish God had been busy attending to something more important, so the characters in this film had indeed plummeted down to a gruesome end. For one, it would have made this film at least fifteen minutes shorter. And two, it would have been a very fitting revenge for the agony these characters put you through just watching them go about their scenes in this terrible film.

Adapted from Chetan Bhagat's bestselling novel One Night at the Call Centre, Hello is an embarrassingly amateurish movie. Remember the kind of class plays one put up in the school quadrangle when one was 12?

This film is only a marginally more professional effort than that. The screenplay, written by Bhagat himself and the film's director Atul Agnihotri, is slipshod and contrived, and in fact it's so silly you can't help laughing even when you're not meant to.

The plot's focused on a group of six call-centre employees in Mumbai who're grappling with serious personal issues, and the life-altering experience they go through on this particular night-shift.

Starring Sharman Joshi as a call-centre team-leader in the making, and Sohail Khan, Eesha Koppikar, Gul Panag, Amrita Arora and Sharat Saxena as the members of his team, Hello makes it abundantly clear that attention-to-detail isn't top on its list of priorities.

It's 1 pm in London and I get ready to visit Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan on the sets of ‘London Dreams’. I was given the deadline of 2pm but then there was no need to rush as both were going to be on the set one hour late. Bollywood timings you know!

But the result was the opposite. Being stuck in the Underground train due to a signal failure, I reached the beautiful London Bridge location 20 minutes late. Ajay and Salman were seated in their tent with a couple of electronic guitars. Their co-star, MTV VJ Rannvijay walks in. Vipul is behind the camera as usual almost ready for the song sequence with extras getting their steps right. In walks the gorgeous Asin. Both Salman and Asin arm in arm get the shot right in three takes. Sallubhai walks in the tent again where I was chatting with Ajay. I ask Salman if he could give me an exclusive on ‘Heroes’. To my surprise, he grabs my hand and takes me on one side and says, "Lets do this dude". We sit on a flat concrete seating and just as I was about to take out my dictating machine, Salman says, "The Hero is here, start recording".

Hello Hero!

(Laughs) Nice way to start huh! But the ultimate hero is not me but Sohail Khan. Watch out for him.

Hello

Based on Chetan Bhagat's bestseller One Night At The Call Centre, Hello is directed by Atul Agnihotri. The film features Sharman Joshi, Eesha Koppikar, Gul Panag, Sohail Khan and Amrita Arora, apart from cameos by Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.

Hello captures a night at a call centre at large but in particular it is a story of almost lost love, thwarted ambitions, absence of family affection, pressures of a patriarchal set up, and the work environment of a globalised office.

Babylon A.D.

This sci-fi thriller stars Vin Diesel as Thoorop, a mercenary who is sent on a task by Russian mobster Gorsky to bring a young Russian woman by the name of Aurora from Russia to New York.

From being Aurora's enemy, Thoorop turns into her protector. But will he able to rescue her from Gorsky? The film also stars Michelle Yeoh.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

The Clone Wars is the first full length animated feature to hit the Star Wars universe. It is set before the third Star Wars film and follows Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker as they fight for the cause of the republic.

Directed by Dave Filoni, the film features the voices of Christopher Lee and Samuel L Jackson.

Edge of Heaven (Turkish with English subtitles)

Directed by Fatih Akin, Edge of Heaven won the best screenplay award at the 2008 Cannes film Festival.

Ali, a widower based in Turkey gives shelter to Yeter who is a prostitute but soon he suspects that his son is having an affair with her.

Her accidental death prompts Nejat to trace her daughter in Germany. Set between Germany and Turkey, the film deals with territorial issues and generational divides.

Having won admiration for his painting skills, Bollywood actor Salman Khan said his maiden work if he ever turns an author will be a tribute to his father Salim Khan.
Replying to a query on whether he had any plans to turn an author, Salman said, "Everything is possible in this lifetime. Who knows what will happen tomorrow?"

"If at all I write, it will definitely be a tribute to my father Salim Khan," he said.

The actor is playing Chetan Bhagat's role in 'Hello' which is an on-screen adaptation of the latter's best-selling novel 'One night @ the Call Centre'. The movie is a tale about the events that takes place in the lives of six persons working in a call centre one night.

"When Atul got me the script I had already read the book, so it was only a matter of which part I will play. I preferred Chetan's role, that of the narrator. In the film I am actually the narrator of the whole story that unfolds overnight," he said.
On being asked whether he took any advice from Chetan for the role, Salman said, "Chetan is a very talkative person. It's difficult not to listen to him."

Directed by Atul Agnihotri, 'Hello', which also stars Katrina Kaif, Sharman Joshi, Gul Panag, Sohail Khan, Eesha Koppikar, Amrita Arora and Arbaz Khan, will hit the silver screen on October 10.

Apart from 'Hello', Salman will also be seen Subhash Ghai's musical 'Yuvraaj' and Samir Karnik's 'Heroes' later this year.

Subhash Ghai and Salman Khan seem to have bonded really well during the making of Yuvraaj. No wonder that that the veteran director is planning to cast Salman in yet another film after Yuvraaj. What's more! Giving Salman company once again will be none other than lady love Katrina Kaif in this full-on entertainer.

When we got in touch with Subhash Ghai to confirm the details he said, "Yes, Salman and I have spoken about doing one more film together after Yuvraaj. It is a complete entertainer that talks about today's youth. We will start the film only towards the end of next year (2009) since Salman's dates also need to be available and even I need time to work on the script. As for Katrina, she has been signed by Mukta Arts for 3 films, so she will also be a part of this project in all probability."

Only recently, we had informed you of Ghai's plans to start a film with Dilip Kumar in a pivotal role. So is this the same film?

"No…the film I am planning with Dilip Saab is different film altogether. It's a light hearted entertainer which will appeal even to the youngsters. Dilipji would be playing a pivotal role of an 85 year old man in the film. This film (starring Dilip Kumar) will start first after I am done with Yuvraaj and I plan to wrap it in around 4 months," signed off the Showman of Bollywood.

The grand finale of Salman Khan's 10 Ka Dum on Sunday, September 14, promises to be very interesting.
Four celebrity guests -- Rani Mukerji and Lara Dutta in one team, and stand up comedian Shakeel Siddiqui and Rakhi Sawant in another -- will make a special appearance on the show.


The last time Rakhi shared the stage with Salman Khan was when she walked out of Nach Baliye 3 after losing out to Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda -- where Salman was the guest. Salman had repeatedely asked Rakhi to return to the show, but in vain. Undoubtedly, he was irked by the incident.
To mend matters, Rakhi proposed Salman on the sets of 10 Ka Dum!


Rakhi's witty answers left Salman speechless on the show. Later, she showed him her moves when she danced to Dekh ta hai tu kya from the film Krazzy 4.

This juicy bit of goss comes straight from Galaxy, the scene of much madness and mirth in recent times. That's Salman Khan's home darlings, in case you still didn't know!

Well, it so happens that of all the paintings our gifted artist Sallubhai has created and preserved at home, a certain work is his all-time favourite. The painting, I am told, has got something to do with Aishwarya. A lot of water has flowed under the bridge and the lady in question is happily married to someone pretty famous. But Salman still holds this work of art close to his heart. So much so, that it bothers Katrina to no end, and in spite of her insisting that he get rid of it, Sallubhai, being 'all-heart', refuses to do so.

Tch Tch! I am told this painting is a major bone of contention between the two (methinks there are too many bones in their relationship these days) and any argument between the two inevitably leads up to the canvas....

The past is better left alone Sallubhai, especially when the present is as rosy a picture as Katrina!
